CSPS PRESIDENT TERRY ZIMMERMAN, MD
Update on the State of California
As many of you saw, Monday afternoon, California Governor Gavin Newsom reversed the State’s reopening plans and ordered an immediate halt to indoor activities in restaurants, bars, museums, zoos and movie theaters. This occurs as many of these entities had just begun reopening in recent weeks. As we had learned from the first California shut down, physicians’ offices are essential businesses and may remain open. Currently there is no State mandate regarding conducting elective surgery in California. As we witnessed previously, your County Health Officer may issue County specific regulations regarding elective surgery and non-essential businesses. The determining factor at the moment appears to be availability of ICU Hospital beds in your area. Click here to view the 58 various County Health Departments in California. Please consult your County’s restrictions and be sure you have instituted safety protocols to keep yourselves, your staff, and your patients as safe as possible. The CSPS is in the final stages of negotiating access to COVID-19 antibody tests, COVID-19 antigen tests and PPE available for all members of CSPS at reduced rates. An announcement will be made, and a launching portal will appear within the membership section of the CSPS Website for access to these supplies.
